CTS can customize any of its driver safety training courses by incorporating your company’s policies and procedures, as well as achieve the specific training requirements your drivers need.
Class B-60 Hour Training –The course is 6 Days/10 hours per day
Center for Transportation Safety (CTS) offers an on-site training course that meets and exceeds the federal standards for newly licensed drives as set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. This course allows the student to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) with a weight rating greater than 26,000 pounds.
This course involves classroom instruction, labs, and behind-the-wheel driving. Classroom instruction includes subjects mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and State drivers authorities. Methods of presentation in the classroom include lectures, discussion, PowerPoint presentations, and videos. Behind-the-wheel driving will include driving in a closed-course area and on public streets or roads with moderate traffic density. You can customize the course to meet your specific corporate needs.
Class A – 140-210 Hour Training
This course prepares drivers to receive a Class ‘A’ commercial driver’s license, focusing on basic control and several different driving techniques. You can customize the topics to meet your specific corporate need:
- Backing maneuvers
- Identifying road hazards
- Vehicle systems
- Diagnosing malfunctions
- Transporting cargo safely
- Performing commercial vehicle inspections
Students will be engaged through classroom lectures, discussions, range and road experience, and maneuvers demonstrations. The course is taught by instructors with at least 10 years of behind-the-wheel experience, many of whom have logged over one million miles.
High Center of Gravity/Rollover Prevention
Classroom and mobile simulators are utilized to provide instruction the student will be required to exhibit during actual driving session. The mobile simulator is capable of placing the driver in an environment too dangerous to demonstrate on the road. This simulation allows the instructor to view and correct habits that could create hazards for the driver during an actual emergency.
Utilizing the equipment actually operated by the driver and education delivered, drivers are evaluated to identify and correct behaviors that are considered risk factors for rollover and operation of High Center of Gravity vehicles. In addition, drivers determined to present a risk to person or properties are reported to corporate clients for additional consideration.
Class B – 30 hour
Class A – 60 hour
Refresher courses are designed to assist individuals who may have exited the industry for extended periods of time or who have been identified to possess risk potential by their companies. The refresher courses incorporate Defensive Driving principles, Hours of Service, Vehicle Pre/Post Trip Inspection, Backing/Close Quarter Maneuvers, and road skills.
